Dental Materials Research Center

The Babol Dental Materials Research Center was established with its approval in 2009 in an approximate area of ​​200 square meters at School of Dentistry, Babol University of Medical Sciences. The center sent the documents needed to get definitive approval to the Ministry of Health in 2013.

The necessity of conducting research from a scientific point of view is irrefutable. Therefore, conducting research on the movement and dynamism of science to serve the people is essential and humane. This does not only require the recognition of the current situation (both from the internal and external points of view), but also requires a comprehensive and, at the same time, practical application. From this perspective, the Babol Dental Material Research Center has gained the honor of being the first specialized dental research center in the country, in pursuit of the holy goals of the Islamic Republic of Iran. So far, the center has three Ph.D. by research students.

Scientific and Research Capabilities of the Dental Materials Research Center:

1. Basic and applied research on the biological, mechanical and physical properties of materials and restorative and root treatments, including laboratory, animal and clinical research (wear, tensile strength, compression, shear, micro-tensile and micro-shear, micro-leakage, color, hardness, superficial violence)

2. Basic and applied research on ceramics and dental alloys (including laboratory, animal and clinical research)

3. Fundamental and applied research on disinfectants and sterilization in dentistry (including laboratory studies, microbiology)

4. Fundamental and applied research on dental materials and stamping materials, waxes and resins (including laboratory, animal and clinical research)

5. Basic and applied research on bio-materials and nanomaterials (including laboratory, animal and clinical research)

6. Basic and applied research on dental tissue (laboratory, animal and clinical research).

7. Basic and applied research on orthodontic equipment (laboratory, animal and clinical research)

  • Laboratory

The lab has advanced devices and equipment that, under ambient lighting conditions, are able to digitally recognize the color of the tooth, in 3D Master and Vita systems, and devices that increase the speed of teeth bleaching with three periods of radiation Cool light (LED) to the teeth, continuously, in a therapeutic session, with high speed and precision. In this laboratory, the pedebII pulp temperature and pressure simulator is used to simulate the conditions in the mouth that enters the water into the dental pulp space at 37 ° C and a pressure of 34-40 cmH2O. It is also equipped with an Erbium (Diode) device that can be used in both soft and hard tissue types, which is used in oral diseases, TMJ discomfort, soft tissue surgery, tooth extraction, etching and so on.

Tests and measurements of tensile and pressure by universal testing device, and tooth hardness test with optics system and high resolution, along with drawing of graph, are tests performed in this laboratory. Also, there is a CCD device (change compiled device) in the lab, as a type of digital receiver, which is capable of recording a sample image.

The center has succeeded in getting the grant from 150 million Rials to 500 million Rials.

The Dental MateRials Research Center has succeeded in constructing a pressurized dental abrasive machine in 2009.

"Substance Replacement Amalgams" (2008), as well as "Systemic Common Illnesses" (2012), are among the books published by the faculty members of this Center.
